Welcome to The Reformed Liberal Catholic Church Website in the USA !

The Reformed Liberal Catholic Church exists to forward the work of her Master, Christ, in the world and to spiritually feed his flock and to reach out to all. We are called to be Christ in the world for others, offering an open and inclusive catholicism which at the same time acknowledges that we are all on a journey towards God whichever path we are on.

We do not view God as a tyrannical force, demanding constant begging for mercy or placation. We see God as a loving Father, full of love and grace which flows out to us all regardless of our estate. And we see it as our duty to sing His praises, to give thanks for Divine Grace, to lift up our hearts and to pray regularly.

The church draws the central inspiration of its work from an intense faith in the living Christ, believing that the vitality of a church gains in proportion as its members cease to think only of a Christ who lived two thousand years ago, and therefore there is the need to strive to serve as a spiritual vehicle for the eternal Christ.  The Christ, who ever lives as a mighty spiritual presence in the world, guiding and sustaining his people. 'Lo, I am with you unto the consummation of the age.' ‘Before Abraham was, I am'.

The Reformed Liberal Catholic Church is an independent and self-governing body; neither Roman Catholic nor Protestant - but Catholic. It traces its Episcopal succession through The Liberal Catholic Church to the Old Catholic Church of Holland and came into existence as a result of the complete re-organisation in 1915-16 of the Old Catholic Movement in Great Britain, carried through to its completion in 1999. It aims at combining the traditional sacramental form of worship - with its stately ritual, its deep mysticism and its abiding witness to the reality of sacramental grace - with the widest measure of intellectual liberty and respect for the conscience of the individual. Therefore the Church permits to its members and clergy the freedom of interpretation of the scriptures, the creeds and the liturgy.  Regarding the mind as one of the great avenues to spiritual apprehension, it encourages among its adherents the freest play of scientific and philosophic thought.

We welcome all to our altars that come to them reverently and sincerely, and erects no barriers as a result of race, gender, sexuality or sexual orientation. Vegetarianism, belief in the Masters, and re-incarnation are optional and so left to the conscience of the individual. The only condition for recieving Holy Communion is the 'desire to partake'.

The Reformed Liberal Catholic Church is a living christian church it is 'modernist', in that it maintains that the form of religion should keep pace with human growth and enlightenment; but it also holds that the church has handed down a very precious heritage from Christ himself which it is right and proper to preserve. However, we are also concerned about where Christ is calling us today, perhaps more so than where others were sent 2000 years ago.

As a church, the RLCC has no desire to proselytize in the aggressive sense, from among the adherents of other churches. However we welcome people to come to take part in our services without asking or expecting them to leave their original church. All are welcome at our services and following the pattern of Christ who gave himself freely, we open our altars to all. In addition we follow in the footsteps of our founders, Bishops Wedgwood and Leadbeater, in that we are interested in dialogue with the mystical traditions of other faiths and spiritualities.
